Dixie Lou Egbert, 72, of Allerton, passed away Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 at her home in Allerton.
Dixie was born on Oct. 13, 1941 in Confidence, to Paul and Velma (Holmes) Swan. Dixie was united in marriage to Ralph Bernard Egbert on May 8, 1961. She worked for a time at the Seymour Care Center and the rest home in Corydon. Among her jobs, being a mother and wife was her favorite. She had a strong Pentecostal faith and enjoyed reading her Bible, crocheting, visiting on the phone and watching her great-grandchildren grow up in front of her. She will be missed by many.
Survivors include four children, Crystal Moorman of Allerton, Brenda Williams (Rick) of Cincinnati, Treasa Gage of Allerton and Steven (Patrick) Egbert of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Jennifer Mastin (Chris Mills) of Murray, Jauwanna Carr (Joshua) of Allerton, Kenneth Moorman, Jr. (Christy) of Allerton, Travis Egbert (Heather) of Centerville and Greg Parks of Melrose;11 great-grandchildren, Cierra Mastin, Kennedy Mills, Kendrick Mastin, Jackilyn Mills, Hagen Mills, Tyler Carr, Taven Carr, Hope Carr, Faith Carr, Takoda Moorman and Isaiah Egbert; brothers, Ronald Swan (Barb) of Knoxville and Marvin Swan (Shirley) of Promise City and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Egbert, Jr., and a son-in-law, Kenneth Moorman.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Interment will be in Woodpecker Cemetery near Plano.
