Mirie was born in Denver, Colo. on Oct. 7, 1942 to Dr. Frank and Viola (Parker) Mayner. She attended school in Quincy, Ill. and Montrose. Mirie was the Montrose Watermelon Festival Queen in 1960. During her teens and throughout some of her adult life Mirie showed horses. She also was a cheerleader in high school and college.
Mirie attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant. While at Iowa Wesleyan, she met Stan Huston and the couple were married on Aug. 27, 1961. She would attend Simpson College in 1961 and 1962.
