Floy Agnes Davids



Floy Agnes Davids, age 95, of Seymour and Centerville died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008 at Continental Care Center in Seymour.

She was born the daughter of Joe E. and Jennie (Scott) Myers on Feb. 3, 1912 in Cincinnati. She attended the Ervin Rural School and graduated from the Cincin­nati Community Schools in 1931.

Floy became a Christian at the age of 15 years. She was a faithful servant to her Lord all her life, and was an example to all those who knew her.

On June 29, 1936, Floy was united in marriage to Charles C. Sample in Unionville, Mo. She was a homemaker and an Avon distributor and a member of the Church of Christ in Cincinnati. Later, on July 8, 1979, Floy was united in marriage to Marion E. Davids in Keokuk.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husbands, Charles Sample on Nov. 27, 1961 and Marion Davids on May 9, 1992; step-sons, Edwin Sample, who was killed in France on Sept. 16, 1944 during WWII while serving with the armed forces, and Earnest Davids; step-daughter, Margaret Thom­as­son; step-grandson, Greg Sample; brother, Arthur Myers; sisters, Ethel Dorsett and Inez Fowler; and a daughter-in-law, Clellene Sample.

Floy is survived by: her step-daughters, Jean Dicks and husband, Bill of Colo­rado Springs, Colo., Lois Smith of Monroe and Mildred Heminover of Laurel; step-sons, John M. Sample and wife, Virginia of Webb City, Mo., Oscar Davids and wife, Nadean, of Keokuk, Jesse Davids and wife, Millie, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and John Davids and his wife, Anita of Marshalltown; many step­­-grandchildren and great­-grandchildren as well as many nieces and neph­ews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 24, at 2 p.m. at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with Oscar Davids officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Cincinnati.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. till the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to the Continental Care Center Activity Fund and may be left at the funeral home. The Schmidt Family Funeral Home of Centerville is caring for the Davids family and condolences can be sent at: schmidtfamilyfuneralhome.com
