Everett “Roscoe” Keene



Everett “Roscoe” Keene, age 85 of Centerville died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at his home in Centerville.

Roscoe was born Oct. 15, 1922 the son of Everett and Bertha (Noel) Keene on a farm in Putnam, Mo. He graduated from Unionville High School. He worked for a supply store in Kansas City and was an assistant manager for a year and a half. Roscoe enlisted in the Army Air Corps during the Second World War, and was honorably discharged in 1946. He returned to Lemons, Mo., to farm. He also began doing electrical work and became an electrical contractor.

In 1971 he met Cynthia Anne Koestner. Roscoe moved to Centerville to be closer to work, (Elliott Electric) and Cynthia. Roscoe and Cynthia married June 17, 1972 at the First Lutheran Church in Centerville. Roscoe enjoyed flying, golfing, spending time with family, playing slots, and visiting with his many friends around town. He was a member of the Unionville #210 Masonic Lodge, York Rite, KAABA and MOOLAH Shrine, Appanoose County Country Club and the First Lutheran Church in Centerville.

Roscoe is survived by his wife, Cynthia; three children, Debra Ann Sinclair of Las Vegas, Nev., Pamela Sue Trimble of Miami, Fla., and Michael Keene of Lincoln, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Frank Keene.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 24, at the First Lutheran Church in Centerville with Pastor Kathy Franzenburg officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakland Ceme­tery in Centerville.

Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening. A Masonic service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established to the Legacies Foundation of Mercy Medi­cal Center, or Shriner’s Crippled Children’s Hos­pital and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
