Windstream Lifetime Tour rolls through Centerville

Members of Mrs. Brookes' Curious Kids were surprised Tuesday with a visit from the Windstream Lifetime Tour. The kids received snacks and food from the crew, as well as backpacks. They also got to sit in the driver's seat and honk the horn on Windstream's vintage 1953 green mascot.

Windstream was in Centerville on Tuesday performing random acts of kindness for residents and also dropping by the Community Preschool Building to give some gifts to Mrs. Brookes' Curious Kids.

Managers Russ Levinson and David Arkles have been traveling with Windstream's  mascot, a green 1953 pickup throughout communities they will be serving as they take over for Iowatelecom.

The company, which provides broadband Internet, phone service and Dish Network Television, recently completed a takeover of Iowatelecom and this tour is part of an effort to outreach to communities they will be serving.

According to Arkles, this two-man Windstream team will travel throughout the company's coverage area for six months out of the year. They perform random acts of kindness in certain towns, like Centerville, but they also stop by festivals, fairs and other community events when they are happening.

The tour began on May 10 in Little Rock, Ark. The tour can be followed  at Customers can also register to win a lifetime of free telephone and high-speed Internet.
