WEST GROVE — The Iowa State Patrol says a Davis County sheriff’s deputy struck an Amish buggy Monday evening, injuring one person.

The deputy, Christopher Luedke, 31, of Bloomfield, was on duty and driving on Highway 2, one mile east of West Grove. The patrol report says Luedke swerved to the left before striking the buggy.

The buggy’s driver, William Yoder, 47, of Bloomfield, was injured in the crash. An ambulance took him to Davis County Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

According to the patrol, the buggy did not have lights or slow moving vehicle emblems. The patrol said that played a role in the crash. Luedke apparently swerved in an attempt to miss the buggy. The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending.
