If you like good food and like to help support the local sports programs, then you won't want to miss the annual fish fry and pie auction that will take place on the square in Moravia on Aug. 5 beginning at 5 p.m. The fish will be donated by Dennis and Toby Underwood. The pies will be baked by Moravia's finest cooks and will be auctioned off. All proceeds will go towards the Moravia High School softball and baseball teams and the cost of it all is a free will donation. Mark this date on your calendar now to attend this annual event.

A new business in Moravia is that of Power Graphics, owned and operated by Josh Power. Josh is a 2002 Moravia graduate and then graduated from Iowa State University, lived and worked in Ames as general manager for the Sports Page in Ames.

Power Graphics will be able to provide area teams with team gear, apparel and training tools. They will also be working with businesses to help in their advertising with items such as pens, koozies, calendars, banners and much more. They will also be able to use your designs to make T-shirts, hats, banners and many other items. For more information, contact Josh at (641) 724-3320. There are items on display at this time and the hope is to have more in time for the Moravia Fall Festival in which the open house will be held.

A few sports updates: The Moravia football camp will be held on Aug. 3 and 4 for grades 7-12. Registration is on Aug. 3 at 4:40 p.m. and the cost of the camp is $25. The equipment will be handed out to the high school football players on Aug. 4 at 4 p.m. Also, lockers will be picked out and a combination padlock will need to be brought. If you have any questions or problems attending the session, contact Coach Whitlow at (641) 895-4643. The official high school practice will begin on Aug. 5 from 4-8:30 p.m. Players need to have their physical and insurance waiver turned into the school by Aug. 5.

Hannah Eastlick, daughter of Pat and Marsha Eastlick and Samantha Williams, daughter of Randy and Kim Williams, recently competed in the USSSA State Tournament and won first place. They will be going on to compete in the Region 5 World Series. They compete on the Ottumwa Fusion team.
