As we have just celebrated the Easter holiday, I cannot help but stop and reflect on the awesomeness of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I guess what intrigues me so much is, as in the words of a song sung by Carmen, “How can sinful man have a relationship with a Holy God?”

In my own understanding, it just doesn’t make sense, that man can turn their backs on God over and over again.

And like the Book of Judges, each and every time they would come to their senses and cry out to the Holy God. he would turn His face towards them and forgive all their sins committed against Him. Not only forgive their sins, but also restore the relationship He desires to have with man, a relationship that can last forever, for all eternity.

But then I read the words of God Himself, in Isaiah 55:9, “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” I’m sure glad I don’t have to lean on my own understanding. I can have faith in the Living God and be sure that I am saved.

Look what God also said in Romans 10:8-13, “But what does it say? ‘The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,’ that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

As the scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame. For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile - the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Wow. What an awesome God.

Another awesome thing about Jesus Christ is that He didn’t just give us a standard (The Word of God) to live by and tell us to do our best and we’ll see what happens. He knew that man couldn’t keep the standard that He set down for us. And instead of waiting for us to come into compliance with His will, He came to us to provide another way. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

He came to bear the cross of Calvary, the cross meant for you and me to bear. He came to shed His blood, that we might have forgiveness of sins. He came to make us the righteousness of Christ. He came to adopt us as children of the Living God, taking on His name and His likeness. And He came to give us promises.

Like this one, for instance: 1 John 1;9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

Wow. Can you imagine a day when it will be easier to do what is right than to do what is wrong? I don’t understand that concept either. Yet I know that the day will come when I will understand, if I continue to allow God to work in my life and allow Him to change me into His likeness from glory to glory. He promised and He will keep his word.

Wow. Can you see why I think that God is the most awesome person that I can possibly know? Not only has He done these very things for me but He will also do them for you. Just believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and repent of your sins and you will have eternal life, also.

May God richly bless you all!
