As part of Dental Health Month, Kid’s World invited Katie McBurney, I-Smile coordinator, from Marion County Public Health to come and do dental screenings and fluoride varnishes for the children in their 3-year-old and 4-year-old preschool classes.
Upon receiving parental consent, the preschoolers received their dental screenings, which included counting their teeth and checking them for oral problems. The screenings were not meant to replace a dental check-up by the families' dentist or medical check-up by the family doctor.
Each child received a written report stating the condition of their teeth, problem areas and recommendations. The children also each received a toothbrush to take home.
