Snow totals vary across Appanoose County

CENTERVILLE — Appanoose County received at least 6.5 inches of snow and as much as 16 inches from the latest storm, depending on who you ask.

WeatherStreet.com reports as of Feb. 28 Appanoose County received anywhere from eight to 16 inches of snow. The same web site is predicting a 40 percent chance of rain or snow for this area for Monday and Monday night and 30 percent for Tuesday.

Iowa Weather Blog web site reports snow fall totals from Feb. 26-27 for cities in this area: Albia, 6.5 inches; Allerton, 8.8 inches; Centerville, 11 inches; Cincinnati, 6.5 inches; Corydon, 8 inches; Humeston, 6 inches; and Mystic, 8 inches.

The National Weather Service reports Appanoose County received between eight to more than 12 inches of snow for the period ending Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 1 p.m.

John Pasa, natural resources specialist at Rathbun Lake, said he measured nine inches of snow on the ground as of Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 7:30 a.m.
