The Howar Junior High School robotics team participated in the first Lego League regional competition in Ottumwa last weekend.
The team earned the first LL Regional Team Spirit award.
"Some teams really know how to have fun," said Ron Waggoner, with the junior high. "This award goes to the team that most enthusiastically demonstrates a commitment to getting others to see how accessible, fun and rewarding science and technology can be, especially when you are part of a great team.
"To me this shows the true meaning of teamwork, and I am really proud of all of them."
Waggoner credits Principal Bruce Karpen, Kim Mitchell, high school business and technical teacher and the parents as the reasons why they were able to accomplish so much in so little time.
