The Appanoose County Board of Supervisors met in special session Jan. 7 at 9 a.m. in the Courthouse boardroom to discuss salary recommendations from the Appanoose County Compensation Board.
Present were Dean Kaster, Jody McDanel and Neal Smith.
On Nov. 20 ACCB voted to approve pay increases for the office of auditor, recorder and treasurer by 4 percent, Board of Supervisors by 4 percent with an additional $500 going to the chairman, sheriff by 3.4 percent and county attorney by 2.8 percent.
Kaster moved to cut the recommendation by 50 percent, and 100 percent for the Supervisors and the county attorney but that motion died for lack of second.
McDanel moved to reduce the compensation percentages by 40 percent and the supervisors 100 percent but that motion died for lack of second.
Kaster moved to reduce the compensation board recommendation by 38 percent, 100 percent for supervisors and county attorney but that motion died for lack of second.
Smith moved to reduce the compensation board recommendation by 35 percent and 100 percent for supervisors, which was seconded by McDanel and passed on a 2-1 vote. Kaster voted no.
The board voted to approve 25 cents per hour increase for General Relief.
Kaster moved to approve 2 percent salary increase for Rhea Wilson, Jon Foster and Ron Bailey but that motion died for lack of second.
McDanel moved to approve 2.6 percent salary increase for Wilson, Foster and Bailey, which passed by a 3-0 vote.
Wilson is the office manager, Foster is the GIS and IT Technician and Bailey is the assistant to the county engineer with the Appanoose County Secondary Roads engineering staff.
