In Thursday’s Daily Iowegian ran a story showing the candidates running for three City Council seats and the mayor’s position in Centerville. Today’s story will show the candidates running for election this November in the remaining towns in Appanoose County.
In both Rathbun and Unionville no one filed to run for the two-year term as mayor or for the five open at-large two-year City Council seats in both towns. The eventual winners of these seats will be write-in candidates.
On the flip side of the situation in Rathbun and Unionville is in Udell and Plano. The candidates that filed in Udell and Plano are all incumbents.
Running for the two-year mayor’s term in Udell is Eric Pace. Running for the five open at-large two-year City Council seats in Udell are Brandie Mae Ballanger, Jess Ballanger, Mary R. Clark, Marilyn J. Koehler and Joseph Snow.
Running for the two-year mayor’s term in Plano is Richard Gorden. Running for the five open at-large, two-year City Council seats in Plano are Rhonda Bland, Wendell O. DeVore, Willa Dobbs, Nancy Jones and Emma Lee Leopard.
Numa and Exline aren’t too far off the pace in terms of number of incumbents seeking re-election.
In Numa, incumbent Donna L. Sales filed to fill the one open at-large, two-year City Council seat and incumbents Jolene Fadiga and Betty Marshall filed to fill the two open at-large, four-year City Council seats. The only non-incumbent in Numa is Michelle Kauzlarich who has filed to fill the two-year mayor’s position.
In Exline, incumbent Jim Casteel is being challenged by John Matheny for the two-year mayor’s position. Four out of the five seeking the five open City Council seats in Exline are incumbents: Jim Burns, Terry Hand, Gary Hull and Mary Ann Hurley are the incumbents in the race for the at-large, two-year term with the fifth being Annette L. Sinclair.
