Iowa authorities searching for inmate from Appanoose County who escaped from Clarinda facility

CENTERVILLE — The Omaha World-Herald News Service reported today that an Appanoose County inmate escaped from a minimum security facility in Clarinda this morning, Friday, Aug. 16.

Iowa authorities are searching for Rodney Eugene Long, who is serving a five-year sentence from Appanoose County for third-degree burglary. Long apparently jumped a fence in the recreation yard sometime between 4:10 a.m. and 7 a.m. Jail officials discovered that Long was missing about 7 a.m. 
Long's sentence began on March 15 following probation revocation. Long was transferred to the Clarinda Correctional Facility Minimum Security Lodge on April 30.
Long is a white male, 38 years old with brown hair, brown eyes, 5’9” tall and weighing 144 lbs. Long has tattoos on his right and left wrists.
