Honey Creek Resort State Park is inviting all women to join them for Ladies Night on Friday, Nov. 8 with activities set to start at 7 p.m. and last well after midnight.
Ladies Night gives women a chance to enjoy a night out, have some fun, do some early Christmas shopping and listen to live entertainment, Mallory Downs, HCRSP sales manager, said. This year Honey Creek Resort has added a charity auction for the University of Iowa Foundation with proceeds benefitting the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital.
HCRSP picked UI Children’s Hospital as a charity because they are “committed to improving the health and well-being of children in the state and surrounding region for nearly 90 years,” Downs said. “As part of an academic medical center, UI Children’s Hospital also performs groundbreaking research to help solve the mysteries of childhood diseases, in addition to training the next generation of health-care professionals.”
Downs said it’s important to her, being a mom herself, so raising proceeds for UI Children’s Hospital was the first thing that came to my mind.
“Our children are our future and being a mom myself, I know how important it is to have clear and fast answers when your children are sick,” Downs said.
Downs said this makes the sixth Ladies Night event they have held and attendance averaged from 100 to 300 for each one. Past charities included Susan G. Komen Foundation and American Heart Association.
Downs said 27 vendors are expected to bring their products to shop from 7-9 p.m. plus some local vendors that serve food or make treats are going to be there.
The “Runway” this year is Emily Hanes, with The Hall Tree in Centerville, who will be showing off some of her new and favorite clothing items.
Men are encouraged to show up at 9 p.m. for the charity auction and live entertainment by Standing Hampton starting at 10 p.m.
