Turn in a copper thief, earn up to a $2,000 reward

Daily Iowegian

CENTERVILLE — Southern Iowa Electric Cooperative has been victimized by copper thefts in the past six months. For this reason, Southern Iowa Electric Co-op is partnering with other cooperatives in sponsoring a Theft Reward program to encourage rural people to turn in these thieves.

In return, the tipster may earn a reward of up to $2,000 as long as the tip results in the arrest and conviction of someone stealing, defacing, destroying or otherwise vandalizing rural electric cooperative property.

The reward is limited to thefts and vandalism from electric cooperatives on the Associated Electric Cooperative system in Missouri, Iowa and Oklahoma.

All information called in will be shared with law enforcement in the appropriate area.

To report theft or vandalism, call the toll-free Theft Reward hotline at 1-855-COPPER9 (855) 267-7379.
