Several individuals associated with Iowa State University and two local executive directors spent a good part of Monday brainstorming on ways to improve signage in Appanoose County.
Joyce Bieber, Chamber executive director, Tod Faris, AEDC executive director and five individuals from Iowa State University conferred at Chariton Valley Planning & Development office before touring parts of Centerville in the afternoon.
Specific areas selected to tour were city park, Lelah Bradley, soccer complex, the Levee, reservoir and downtown.
The tour was a way for the ISU specialists to gather information for analysis to generate ideas on where and what signage would be needed to improve a visitors journey through Centerville.
Faris said Centerville is not unique, as many other small Iowa towns also lack adequate signage to direct a visitor to a specific location.
The ISU experts are scheduled to return to Centerville in the near future to present their findings.
