Sixth grade band, choir hold spring concert

---- — CENTERVILLE — Simon Estes Auditorium hosted both the sixth grade band and choir Thursday evening for their spring concerts. The show began at 7:30 p.m. with the band taking the stage first.

Under the direction of Mark Taylor, the 44-member ensemble performed five selections. They included, “Above and Beyond” by James Swearingen, “Eventide” by Matt Conaway, “Lexington March” by John Edmondson, “Yakety Sax” by Randolph, arr. Osterling and “The Sound and the Fury” by Robert W. Smith.

The choir led by director Susan Cole took to the stage in their best 1950s style costumes to perform “Fabulous 50’s: arranged by Jay Althouse. Songs include “Splish Splash” by Bobby Darrin and Jean Murray, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” by George David Weiss, “Rocking Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu” by Huey P. Smith and “Do Wah Diddy Diddy” by Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich.

The next Centerville Schools concert to be held will be the Howar Junior High spring concert at Simon Estes Auditorium tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.
