---- — The What Cheer Winds concert band will present their eighth annual concert, “Something Old, Something New” on Sunday, April 21 at 2 p.m. at the What Cheer Opera House. There is no admission charge but a free will donation will be collected. Part of the donation is used for opera house upkeep.
Former Centerville High School band director John Holeman, of Centerville, is a members of the 45 piece band that presents annual concerts in the historic opera house setting. The band is saluting a performance done by John Philip Sousa’s band in the What Cheer Opera House 107 years ago.
Conductor Gary Huxford has chosen music in a variety of styles. Alissa Bieschke, soprano, and Rich Thorson, tenor, will perform solos and then combine on “God Bless America” as a tribute to military personnel and veterans.
