CENTERVILLE — RANDY MARCUSSEN
Q 1: What is your background? Job(s), family, education, expertise, qualifications, etc.
My name is Randy Marcussen and I am an art teacher in the Centerville School District. My wife, Tatum, is also an art teacher in Centerville. I graduated high school from Waverly-Shell Rock. I went to college at the University of Northern Iowa and majored in Art Education receiving my Bachelor of Arts in 1999. I have been a teacher for 10 years and have lived in Centerville for four years. I consider Centerville my hometown and want to help Centerville continue to grow and move in the right direction.
Q 2: Why should people vote for you?
People should vote for me for a change in the right direction. I will represent the citizens of Centerville and not personal beliefs. The citizens need a voice on the council and I will be that voice.
Q 3: What do you hope to accomplish if you are (re) elected?
I hope to bring pride back to Centerville through getting done what needs to be done and not what a few want to have done in Centerville. Centerville is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. We need to have council members that represent the people and not themselves.
Q 4: What are some of the main issues facing your community and where do you stand on them?
The Centerville infrastructure is a main concern facing Centerville. With shortfalls in funding and continued cuts at the state level Centerville needs to use every dime effectively. Each of our city services need to prioritize projects and each set a five year completion plan. We may need to alternate the main funding between each of the city services each year to accomplish goals.
