MORAVIA — Three were injured in an accident that caused the driver of a Chevrolet truck to be ejected on Sunday.
The accident was reported at 11:16 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1 for a personal injury accident at the intersection of Highway J-18 and Resort Drive.
Three individuals were transported to a hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.
Brandon L. Rash, 19, of New Sharon, was transported to a Des Moines hospital by the Mercy One air ambulance. The accident report from the Iowa State Patrol states Rash was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
Jennifer Watters, 17, of Oskaloosa, and Jerome A. Eichenberger, 60, of Ankeny, were both transported to Mercy Medical Center in Centerville by ground ambulance.
Rash was listed as having incapacitating injuries and Watters and Eichebnerger were listed as having possible injuries.
The report from the Iowa State Patrol states that Eichenberger was driving a 2009 Chevrolet HHR westbound on J-18 while Rash was driving a 1997 Chevrolet K1500 truck eastbound on J-18.
The report states that Eichenberger’s vehicle began to prematurely turn into Resort Drive and made contact with the driver’s side of Rash’s vehicle.
The collision caused Rash’s vehicle to roll into the south ditch of Highway J-18, landing on it’s top. Watters was a passenger in Rash’s vehicle.
Eichenberger received a citation for failure to yield upon left turn. The full accident report form the state patrol states $8,000 in damage was done to Rash's vehicle and $4,500 was done to Eichenberger's vehicle.
