The Appanoose County Secondary Road Department reports the following road travel restrictions that started Monday for 508th Street from 1.1 miles west of 240th Avenue to 0.9 miles west of 240th Avenue for bridge repairs to back walls. Work is expected to be finished by June 24 at 4:30 p.m. unless otherwise notified. For more information call the Appanoose County Secondary Road Department at (641) 856-6193.
Math, science camp for girls
OTTUMWA — Indian Hills Community College will once again offer Girls Exploring Math and Science camp this summer. Girls entering fourth through sixth grades in the fall are eligible to sign-up for this free camp on June 20-21 at the Advanced Technology Center on Indian Hills’ Ottumwa Campus.
The camp will run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each day and lunch will be provided. There are a limited number of slots. In order to reserve a spot for your child, call (641) 683-5249.
This year’s camp will feature a variety of fun activities. For example, students will design, build, decorate and race a model car. The girls will learn about the scientific concepts of gravity and friction. They will also spend time with female mentors involved in math and science careers and include faculty at Indian Hills as well as engineers from Cargill in Eddyville.
