---- — What started as a list of 11 potential administrators for the city of Centerville has been narrowed down to five, four men and one woman.
The Centerville City Council Tuesday night, June 4 during a work session meeting at City Hall were guided through the list of 11 by Dick Schrad with Brimeyer Fursman, an executive search firm.
The next step is June 21 and 22 for personal interviews with the City Council.
The five candidates’ background information in no particular order.
• Darrel Steven Carlyle is the executive director of the Red Oak Chamber and Industry Association, Inc. He reports to a board of directors and oversees four employees. He has been in that position since August of 2009.
His budget responsibilities include development of and administration of the association’s annual budget with revenues of $315,062 and expenditures of $289,198.
Red Oaks’ population is 5,600.
From 2007-2008 he was the city administrator in Greenwood in Jackson County, Mo. overseeing a staff of 28 with a population of 5,239. From 2006-2007 he was the city manager of Iowa Falls in Hardin County with a population of 5,193 while overseeing 47 staff members.
From 1999-2006 he was the city administrator/city clerk for Bondurant with a population of 2,951 while supervising 18 employees.
In 1998 he attended the University of Nebraska in Omaha and earned a Bachelors degree in Public Administration. In progress at the University of Nebraska is his pursuit of a MPA.
Two remaining candidates are Chelsea Huisman, profile to be published Thursday and Alan Johnson, profile to be published Friday.
