City of Centerville intends to appoint individual to fill vacant council seat

CENTERVILLE — The Centerville City Council plans to make an appointment to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Councilman Robbie Morgan.  

The member appointed to the council will serve until Jan. 2, 2012 when the officers duly elected during the Nov. 1, 2011 election are sworn in.  

The council intends to fill the vacancy by appointment at their regular meeting on Aug. 1, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at Centerville City Hall.

Any citizen has the right to file a petition requiring that the vacancy be filled by a special election. Forty-nine signatures would be needed on the petition, which should be submitted to the city clerk at the above referenced address within 14 days after appointment is made or notice is published, whichever is later.
