One airlifted after motorcycle accident on Hwy S70

PLANO — One victim was transported with injuries to a hospital after sustaining injuries from a single-vehicle, motorcycle accident north of Plano Wednesday afternoon.

The severity of injuries or identity of the individual injured hasn't yet been released by authorities. Scanner communications indicated the injured person was unconscious, unresponsive with very shallow breathing and showing signs of head trauma.

The accident was reported over the scanner at approximately 7:17 p.m. Wednesday. Mercy One air ambulance responded directly to the scene and transported the victim to an unknown hospital.

The accident occured just north of the intersection of Highway J18 and Highway S70, on Highway S70. The bike was found by responders in the west side ditch, heavily damaged.

The Appanoose County Sheriff's Department is investigating the accident. Two ambulances from the Mercy Medical Center and the Mystic First Responders were also at the scene assisting.
