Supervisors vote to hold budget estimate public hearing Feb. 19

CENTERVILLE — The Appanoose County Board of Supervisors Monday voted to hold a fiscal year July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014 budget estimate public hearing on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 9:30 a.m. at the boardroom in the Appanoose County Courthouse.

The proposed tax rate per $1,000 taxable valuation for urban areas is estimated at $8.9634 and for rural areas is estimated at $12.0634.

Total revenues and other sources is estimated at $10,268,488. Total expenditures and other uses is estimated at $11,044,060.

In other action, the board voted to approve the zoning commission recommendation to change from agricultural to commercial property in Taylor Township belonging to Fred and Kimberly Reiner.

The board passed a resolution to establish 35 miles per hour as the speed limit for county road T30 Main Street through Exline from the west city limits to East Second Street.

The Exline City Council passed a resolution on Nov. 6, 2012 to have the speed limit raised from 20 miles per hour to 35.

Appanoose County Engineer Gary Bishop performed a speed study on the road and said it supports a higher speed limit.

The Appanoose County Public Health hired Renea Wubben for three days a week at $19 per hour beginning Feb. 4.
