UPDATE: Three windows broken on Square; Centerville male juvenile arrested

CENTERVILLE — The Law Center in Centerville received a call at 2:38 a.m. Saturday, May 12 of a male with a baseball bat breaking windows on the Square, Centerville Police Chief Tom Demry said by telephone Monday morning.

Demry said a 17-year-old male juvenile from Centerville was arrested in the 800 block of East Wilson Street at 3:19 a.m. Saturday. He has been charged with second degree criminal mischief, a class D felony.

A total of three, large plate glass windows were broken. Two on the east side and one on the north side of the Centerville Square.

Demry said damage was estimated at more than $1,000 but less than $10,000.

Demry said at 3:08 a.m. Saturday the juvenile called the Law Center to turn himself in. He was transported to a juvenile detention facility somewhere in Iowa.

The name of the juvenile will not be released by the Daily Iowegian unless he is tried as an adult.
