Sharon Redinbaugh, Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioner in Appanoose County, received the Outstanding Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioner Award on Sept. 4 at the 67th annual Iowa Soil and Water Conservation Districts Commissioners Conference at the Sheraton Hotel in West Des Moines.
Redinbaugh is currently the district chairperson for Appanoose County and has served as a commissioner for 15 years. She currently serves as SWCD representative on the Fox River Ecosystem and Development Board and serves on the district’s education committee and the legislative committee.
Redinbaugh is very active within her community. For the past four years she has participated in the fourth grade forestry program, she has participated in the selection and presentation of scholarships at the annual Centerville High School awards program, and has promoted participation in the district’s poster contest.
Redinbaugh and her husband own and/or operate nearly 1,300 acres including 640 acres of cropland and 650 acres of pasture land. She leads by example and has installed many different conservation practices on the land. Redinbaugh is always looking for ways to improve their operation and at the same time, protect their natural resources.
