---- — The Iowa DNR has developed an independent/internet hunter education course. Students wishing to participate in this internet course must understand that this is a three-part process:
1.Students should register for the hunter education field day (search Appanoose County) electronically by going to the following site: www.iowadnr.gov/training.
2. Students should then complete the online hunter education course at : www.iowadnr.gov/Hunting/HunterSafetyEducation/HunterEducationProgram.aspx, which will take eight-10 hours.
At the end of the course, there will be a $25 fee assessed and the student will be allowed to print a “field day voucher.”
3. Students must bring a field day voucher to the hunter education field day they registered for. The field day will include information on ethics, responsibility, laws, gun handling and final testing.
The next Appanoose County field day will be Saturday, Oct. 19 at 8 a.m. at the Rathbun Hatchery below Rathbun Dam. The session is expected to last three-five hours.
The internet portion of the course must be completed prior to the one day session. Students must have a field day voucher when they arrive at the class.
