Prison term settles seven criminal cases

---- — A Centerville man facing 17 criminal counts in seven different felony, aggravated and serious misdemeanor cases in two southeast Iowa counties entered a guilty plea to three of the counts and was sentenced to state prison. The other 14 counts were dismissed by the court.

Trevor David White, 28, was sentenced April 23 in Appanoose County to five years in state prison, fine, suspended and given credit for any time served by Judge Daniel P. Wilson for the charge of failure to appear, a class D felony. The offense date for this count was Nov. 30, 2012. White entered a voluntary, negotiated guilty plea to the charge on Jan. 2, 2013.

Following sentencing, White was transported to Wapello County for sentencing in two pending criminal cases.

White was sentenced April 25 in Wapello County by Judge Kirk A. Daily to five years in state prison, suspended fine and credit for any time served on the charge of possession of methamphetamine, a serious misdemeanor. The offense date for this charge was Feb. 9, 2012.

Judge Daily April 25 in Wapello County sentenced White to 365 days in jail, 361 days suspended, credit for four days served and a fine for the charge of possession of marijuana, third or subsequent offense, an aggravated misdemeanor. The offense date for this charge was Feb. 11, 2012.

White entered voluntary, negotiated guilty pleas to both Wapello County charges.

The total time White will serve is five years, as the court ordered the sentences in both Wapello County cases and the Appanoose County case to run concurrently.

The criminal complaint filed Aug. 14, 2012 by the Appanoose County Sheriff's office states White on June 27, 2012 at 3:46 a.m. at 830 N. 18th St. in Centerville assaulted his wife, Amanda White, by "impeding the normal breathing or circulation of the blood of another by applying pressure to the throat or neck of the other person" and confined her against her will.

Kum & Go store employees witnessed the attack and called police.

The investigation revealed Amanda White had been hiding from her husband because of the "constant physical abuse. Amanda White said that the defendant had found her on three different occasions and had assaulted her each time."

Amanda White claims she was assaulted by her spouse on June 27, 2012 at 3:35 p.m. at 310 E. Terry St. This assault was reported to the police by a neighbor.

Amanda White said her spouse grabbed her in a choke hold and covered her mouth and nose making it difficult to breathe. She eventually escaped.

Another assault against Amanda White occurred July 9, 2012 at 3:59 p.m. at 318 N. 12th St.

The criminal complaint states Amanda White told her husband they would have to separate because of the assaults and his response was the only way out of the marriage was death.

White's domestic abuse assault convictions according to the criminal complaint are on Aug. 1, 2003; Oct. 28, 2005; and Nov. 4, 2012.

The following counts against White in Appanoose County were dismissed on April 23: One count of domestic abuse assault, third or subsequent offense, a class D felony with an offense date of June 27, 2012; one count of false imprisonment, a serious misdemeanor, with an offense date of July 9, 2012; one count of willful injury-causing bodily injury, a class D felony with an offense date of Jan. 8, 2012; two counts of driving while barred, habitual offender, aggravated misdemeanors with offense dates of March 30, 2012 and April 7, 2012; two counts of first degree harassment, aggravated misdemeanors, both with the offense date of April 29, 2012; two counts of driving while barred, habitual offender, aggravated misdemeanors, with offense dates of April 26, 2012 and April 29, 2012; one count of eluding, aggravated misdemeanor, with an offense date of April 29, 2012; one count of assault causing bodily injury, serious misdemeanor, with an offense date of April 29, 2012; and one count of first degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor with an offense date of July 28, 2012.

The following counts against White in Wapello County were dismissed April 25: Two counts of operation of impounded or immobilized vehicle, serious misdemeanors, with offense dates of Feb. 9 and 11, 2012 and

White owes $697 to Appanoose County.

White owes $2,387.25 to Wapello County.
