Nov. 15, 1927: The first Alfalfa banquet. The first prize winner for growing alfalfa went to William Miller of Union Township who was known from that moment forward and wherever he went as “Alfalfa Bill.” The speaker the second year was Henry Wallace.
Nov. 17, 1903: Centerville’s first hospital is opened to the public on South Main Street. The first two patients are a boy from Diamond and a man from Brazil.
