Operation Santa kicks off today

Daily Iowegian

CENTERVILLE — Operation Santa has kicked off another year and the committee has begun planning for this year’s distribution.

Applications became available for those families wishing to apply starting today and can be found at  SEIDA offices. Only applications for households with at least one child 15 years old or younger will be accepted as Operation Santa recipients.

Once again good used coats will be collected for distribution to those needing warm winter coats.   Especially needed are children's coats. Operation Santa will be collecting coats only and they can be dropped off at The Shoe Tree on the west side of the square.

Donations of these items are greatly appreciated. Monetary gifts can be mailed to the following: Operation  Santa, P.O. Box 161, Centerville, IA  52544.

An entire family can be “adopted” by calling the Adoption Hotline at  437-3450. That line will be open starting today. Adoption includes gifts for the children of a family as well as non perishable food for Christmas dinner.

Volunteers are needed and always welcome. Anyone interested in helping with the Operation Santa Program can contact any committee member or call the phone number listed above.
