Wayne County Judge David L. Christensen June 17 suspended a 10 year state prison sentence against James Dale Sears, of Millerton.
The judge ordered Sears, 70, to three years probation with conditions and a suspended fine on the charge of controlled substance violation, a class C felony.
Sears entered a voluntary, negotiated guilty plea to the charge.
According to a Wayne County Sheriff’s office press release published in the Daily Iowegian Feb. 22 of this year, Sears was arrested after a search of his residence in Millerton in northern Wayne County turned up items consistent with the illegal sale and distribution of methamphetamine. The original criminal complaint charged Sears with possession with intent to deliver less than five grams of meth, a class C felony.
Sears owes $315.
