Iowa Newspaper Association elects new leaders

DES MOINES — The Iowa Newspaper Association’s three entities recently held their annual meetings, electing new members and officers to their three boards of directors. Elections were held Feb. 7, 2013, during the association’s annual Convention and Trade Show.

The Iowa Newspaper Association Board of Directors elected the following officers: Steve Delaney, Burlington Hawk Eye, president; Jeff Wagner, Sheldon N’West Iowa Review, vice president; Jim Normandin, Dubuque Telegraph Herald, secretary-treasurer; and Kevin Johnson, Gannett Publishing Services, executive member at large. Elected to the INA board were Jim Normandin, Dubuque Telegraph Herald to serve a second three-year term; Kevin Johnson, Gannett Publishing Services to serve a second three-year term; Geoff Schumacher, Ames Tribune to serve a first three-year term; Mark Spensley, Monticello Express to serve a first three-year term; and Dave Stanley, New Hampton Tribune to serve a first three-year term. In addition, Keely Byars, Davenport Quad-City Times, was appointed to the board to complete an unexpired term.

Elected as officers of the INA Services Co. Board of Directors were Don Dauterive, president; Bill Casey, vice president; and Becky Maxwell, secretary-treasurer. The following directors were appointed to the board by its sole shareholder, the INA: Steve Delaney, Burlington Hawk Eye; Ann Wilson, Carroll Daily Times Herald; Becky Maxwell, Centerville Daily Iowegian; Jim Normandin, Dubuque Telegraph Herald; Alan Mores, Harlan Newspapers; Bill Casey, Iowa City Daily Iowan; Don Dauterive, Iowa Farm Bureau Spokesman; Jeff Wagner, N’West Iowa Review; and Beth Bennett, Wisconsin Newspaper Association.

The Iowa Newspaper Foundation Board of Directors appointed the following officers: Rich Paulsen, Creston News Advertiser, president; Amy Duncan, Indianola Record-Herald & Tribune, first vice president; Dodie Hook, Akron Hometowner, second vice president; and John Goossen, Iowa Falls Times-Citizen, third vice president. Mary Ungs-Sogaard, Dyersville Commercial; Lyle Muller, Iowa Center for Public Affairs Journalism; and Annette Schulte, Cedar Rapids Gazette were elected to three-year board terms.
