Update on cement truck accident

CENTERVILLE — On Monday, April 1 at approximately 2:49 p.m., the Appanoose County Law Center received a 911 call of an Ideal Ready Mix truck on its side in the ditch with the driver pinned inside the cab east of 265th Avenue on 610th Street, according to a press release issued by the Appanoose County Sheriff’s Office.

The truck was eastbound on 610th Street with a load of cement when it hit a soft spot in the road and lost control of the vehicle entering the north ditch rolling over onto the driver side. The operator of the truck, Roger Fowler, 53, of Cincinnati, was extracted from the truck by use of the Jaws-of-Life by members of the Centerville Fire Department, Southern Appanoose County First Responders, Cincinnati Fire Department and Mercy Medical Center EMTs.

Fowler was airlifted to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
