---- — The Centerville City Council during a special meeting Wednesday voted 5-0 to approve the municipal airport application for a Federal Aviation Administration grant. Two other 5-0 votes were cast to approve interim financing for the land purchases until the grant funds can be drawn down and to authorize the mayor to sign all documents pertaining to the grant.

Jay Rogers said the federal grant money should be delivered in about 60 days.

The purchase of land surrounding the airport was needed in order to comply with FAA rules and regulations suitable to general aviation.

French-Reneker, project coordinator, will be paid $70,161. But they are responsible to pay JCG $16,311 for land negotiation services, pay $2,000 for environmental site assessment, pay $12,000 for appraisals, pay $6,000 to review appraisals and pay $600 for abstracts.

Four property owners will be paid $374,201 for almost 49 acres of land surrounding the Centerville Municipal Airport. Total fee acquisition acres were 46.501 and total easement acquisition acres were 2.367.

The total application comes to $487,780. The federal grant is 90 percent of that, or $439,002 and the local, city of Centerville 10 percent match comes to $48,778.

Some of the acres sold will be leased out for crop production. Rogers said lease money is a substantial source of revenue for the airport.
