A Mystic man was arrested following an approximately 15 minute chase that happened shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday.
Timmy Leslie Leopard Jr., 32, of Mystic, was charged with felony eluding and reckless driving following the chase that had speeds climb over 100 mph, Centerville Police Chief Tom Demry said.
The pursuit began when Leopard allegedly ran a stop sign in front of a Centerville police officer, according to scanner traffic. He attempted to initiate a traffic stop at the intersection of 15th Street and Green Street, but the suspect took off.
Appanoose County sheriff deputies and Centerville police officers arrested Leopard after he bailed out on foot in a field at Highway J46 and 180th Avenue.
Leopard was also wanted on two warrants for violating a no contact order, Demry said. As of Wednesday afternoon, he had been transferred to the Wayne County Jail. His bond was set at $5,000 prior to his magistrate appearance.
