The second Saturday of every month now through October on the Centerville Square shoppers will find additional vendors selling everything from produce to crafts to garage sale type items as they participate in a new event called "2nd Saturday Square Share."
The additional vendors will be located on the Courthouse lawn and will compliment the original second Saturday on the Square retail sales event that started in February that many Square businesses participate in.
"2nd Saturday Square Share" will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. every second Saturday of the month.
Julie Mihalovich with the Gypsy Quarter on the east side of the Square said the idea to add what is called "2nd Saturday Square Share" grew out of a Retail Promotion Committee meeting.
"We're hoping it will just bring community awareness and give people who live in the outlying areas the opportunity to use the Square," Mihalovich said.
The hope is the addition of "2nd Saturday Square Share" will compliment the existing second Saturday on the Square retail sales event by drawing in people early who might then stay and shop and eat on the Square.
"So that people know that Centerville is the place to come on the second Saturday of the month," Mihalovich said. "We're trying to bill it as a destination type thing."
Mihalovich said each "2nd Saturday Square Share" will have a different variety of vendors with products that range from baked goods, arts, crafts, clothing, vegetables, garage sale items, Amish products, promotion products and fundraising-type products.
Vendor permits are available at retail businesses that participate in the second Saturday sale and include Book, Vine and Joy, Chamber of Commerce, Dannco, Gypsy Quarter, Hall Tree and Tangleberries.
Vendors will be charged $20: $10 for the event fee and $10 for a deposit for space for each Saturday they decide to participate. Each vendor will be allowed a 10 foot by 10 foot space directly behind their parking space.
