---- — What started as a list of 11 potential administrators for the city of Centerville has been narrowed down to five, four men and one woman.
The Centerville City Council Tuesday night, June 4 during a work session meeting at City Hall were guided through the list of 11 by Dick Schrad with Brimeyer Fursman, an executive search firm.
The next step is June 21 and 22 for personal interviews with the City Council.
The fifth and final candidates’ background information.
• Alan Johnson has been the city administrator for the city of Anamosa with a population 5,533 since July 14, 2010 to present. He reports to the mayor and oversees 25 full-time employees.
His budget responsibilities include the preparation and submission of operating and CIP budgets: $2.2 million general fund and $7.3 million CIP.
From October 2001 to October 2009 he was the city manager in Independence, a community of 6,014 while supervising 28 full-time and 80 part-time employees.
From October 1994 to September 2001 he was the city manager in Sheldon, a community of 5,005 while supervising 43 full-time and 60 part-time employees. From November 1991 to October 1994 he was the DPW/Administrator in Bloomfield, a community of 2,580 residents while supervising 47 full-time and 50 part-time employees.
From 1989-91 he attended Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa earning an AA. In 1991 he attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City. No degree was earned.
In 1989 he attended the Moscow University in Moscow, USSR and was given a PHD/honorary.
To recap, the five candidates in the running for the city administrator position are Alan Johnson, Chelsea Huisman, Darrel Steven Carlyle, Joe Gaa and Patrick Antonen.
