---- — Tammy Latissha Terrell, 30, of Centerville, accused of stealing blank checks from her grandparents and using those checks with three others to run up more than $4,000 in charges was sentenced in the Appnaoose County courthouse courtroom to 10 years in state prison.

The judge in the case, Rose Anne Mefford, on Oct. 25 accepted Terrell's voluntary, negotiated guilty plea to two counts of forgery, class D felonies, found her guilty and sentenced Terrell to five years in prison for each count to run consecutively to each other (one after the other) and concurrently (together to each other) to three different felony cases.

To see what those three felony cases are, go to Iowa Courts Online and search FECR005926, FECR005931 and FECR005932.

Two of the five counts filed by Appanoose County Attorney Richard Scott were dismissed Oct. 25: Second degree theft and conspiracy to commit a felony, both class D felonies. One count of ongoing criminal conduct, unlawful activity, a class B felony, was not disposed.

Court documents state the offense date for all five charges was June 1, 2013.

The criminal complaint affidavit filed by the Centerville Police Department Aug. 2 alleges Terrell on June 1 in Centerville stole two books of checks from her grandparents and formed with Jason Leroy Hogg, Gage Allen West and Jeffery Ryan Horn an "ongoing criminal conduct by constructing a criminal network consisting of the co-defendants in this case." Terrell provided the stolen checks "which the network forged to obtain merchandise and cash from victim's associated with this case."

Law enforcement alleges at least 35 checks were written from approximately June 4 to July 2 for a total of $4,066.58.

The businesses they visited include Casey's, Cosby's, Konvience Korner, Kum&Go, Fareway, Hy-Vee, Jing Jing Chinese Restaurant, J&K Market, Gordies Bar and Grill and Quick Shop Foods.
