---- — The “Sounding the Alarm” campaign to raise $30,000 for a new sound system at Simon Estes Auditorium is now going full speed ahead. The group presented their proposal to the Centerville School Board Monday night and the board supported the project.
The school district will be purchasing the system, so it can be installed by Homecoming, and the Centerville Community Schools Foundation will reimburse the school for the costs, once fundraising is complete. To date the group has raised approximately $11,000 towards their goal.
The new system would feature four speakers, at approximately $1,000 each, and four sub woofers, at approximately $600 each. A second monitor, at approximately $350, would also be included. In addition to the speakers, the new system would be wireless. Using an iPad, a technician could control the sound from any location.
Any business or individual interested in supporting the project may send contributions to the Centerville Community Schools Foundation at P.O. Box 1054, Centerville, IA 52544.
