According to Rathbun Lake and Dam Operations Manager Phillip H. Brown, Rathbun Lake is effectively shut down. All federal employees that work at the Rathbun Project Office, with the exception of Brown and the civil tech engineer began furlough at the end of the day Tuesday.
All the facilities, campground and boat ramps that are operated and maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are closed.
“For the civil engineer and myself, our ability to respond, communicate, attend meetings, ect. has been limited to ably assisting with matters of life or human safety,” Brown wrote in an email Tuesday. “This is a directive.”
The shuts own and furloughs will continue unchanged until the federal budget is passed.
