---- — A Centerville man accused of 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor entered a guilty plea to seven of those aggravated misdemeanor charges on Sept. 9. Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 20.

Appanoose County Attorney Richard Scott filed those charges against Brian Lee Mongar, 43, on June 23, 2011. The trial information filed by Scott alleges Mongar possessed pictures and videos showing minor children engaged in sex acts.

The criminal affidavit complaint filed May 11, 2011 by the Centerville Police Department states a search warrant at the defendants residence turned up more than 2,000 images and videos of minor children ranging in age 5 up to junior high school age engaged in several sexual acts. During a post-Miranda interview, Mongar admitted to the charges.

Each aggravated misdemeanor charge carries a maximum prison sentence of two years. Theoretically, Mongar could be sentenced to 14 years in state prison.
