The case against a Centerville man accused of defacing public property was dismissed in magistrate court on Tuesday, Oct. 8. Defacing public property is a simple misdemeanor.
Terry Leon Crow, 49, was seen cutting down mature Hickory and Oak trees in Centerville’s City Park on Oct. 5, 2011. Crow allegedly cut down approximately 20 trees at the park, which is located at 712 W. Lane St.
Crow maintained he had permission from the city to cut down dead trees in the park. Centerville city officials maintained they and Crow had a verbal agreement for him to clear low hanging branches and brush from around the Frisbee golf course.
A criminal complaint affidavit was filed Oct. 14, 2011 after city officials were notified on Oct. 5, 2011 of Crow’s actions.
