Day 64—March 19—Spend five minutes tidying one forgotten spot, like the floor of your car or the area under the sink. Areas that are cluttered and/or dirty can add to your stress level — especially if you encounter them often, like the inside of your car. By finally taking on that one spot, you’ll have the satisfaction of having completed the chore. And if your task involves de-cluttering, you’ll no longer be frustrated because you’re unable to find something.
Day 65—March 20—Savor the Flavor. Take one minute to truly savor a flavor: Chew slowly and focus on taste and texture. At your next meal or snack, take a moment to eat mindfully and truly savor the flavor of the food. Chew slowly, and if you like, you can even close your eyes. What textures do you notice? The crisp snap of an apple, the springiness of a piece of popcorn, or the softness of a serving of fish? How about the taste? Is it sweet, sour, tart, salty? Or some combination of these? As we move through our hurried days, we sometimes lose our connection with food and eat it too fast, while we’re doing other things, or both. By forcing yourself to slow down and explore the tastes and textures, it gives you an appreciation for what you’re eating. Eating more slowly also means that you will likely eat less.
