Indian Hills Community College is well-represented on the 2014 All-Iowa Academic Team. IHCC has two students from the college’s Ottumwa campus, Kendle M. Schieber and Jentri L. Smith, and two from the Centerville campus, Travis M. Bandt and Olivia J. Starcevich, on the academic list. All four students are sophomores at Indian Hills.
Schieber is from Conception Junction, Mo., and will obtain her Associate of Applied Science degree in May. Smith, from Ottumwa, is enrolled in the Social and Digital Media Communications program.
Bandt is from Gaylord, Mich., and is working toward a Mechanical Engineering degree. A Centerville resident, Starcevich has already obtained an Associate of Arts degree at Indian Hills and plans to major in Biology and Education at the University of Northern Iowa.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, students must be members of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year schools, post a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average and be nominated by their respective colleges. The academic deans at the individual colleges then vote on the candidates. Each of Iowa’s community college districts is included in the competition.
