Three arrested after disrupting 911 service in Cincinnati

CINCINNATI — Three men have been arrested for felony criminal mischief after they cut a telephone line that was used to provide 911 services to the Cincinnati area.

Rhett Tyler Sandner, 22, Clifford Dale Ruckman, 20, and Timothy John Hatfied, 25, all of Centerville, have been arrested and charged with second degree criminal mischief, a class D felony, and obstruction of emergency communications.

Appanoose County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 27000 block of Highway 5 for a suspicious vehicle. When they arrived, deputies noticed a vehicle leaving the area.

Deputies found that a twenty-five pair telephone line had been cut under a bridge on Highway 5. The three men were arrested and charged following the investigation.

Sandner and Ruckman have been released by the court on their own recognizance. Hatfield is being held in the Appanoose County Jail on $5,300 bond.

A class D felony is punishable by up to five years and prison and a fine from $750-$7,500.

Sheriff Gary Anderson said 911 service has been restored to the area.
