---- — OTTUMWA — The annual spring concert of the Indian Hills Community College jazz band will be at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, May 6. The concert, in St. John Auditorium, is free and open to the public.
Under the direction of Professor David Sharp, the group will perform a variety of traditional and contemporary big band jazz pieces including “Low Blow” by Jay Chattaway, Count Basie’s “Lester Leaps In,” “One Step Ahead” by Mike Kamuf, Lee Morgan’s “Sidewinder,” “My Funny Valentine” arranged by Sammy Nestico and the rarely-performed 1937 “Blues of Avalon” by the Texas band, Boots and His Buddies.
Members of the jazz band include: Bloomfield: Megan Crady; Columbus Junction: Austie Hollenbeck and Chelsey Smith; Corydon: Keagan Piercy; Fairfield: Brittany Anderson; Hedrick: Jenna Strom; Keota: Caleb Ahrens; Knoxville: Andrew Kecy; Milton: Jay Stookesberry; Moravia: Julia Beall; Moulton: Brettany Sebolt; Mount Pleasant: Carrie Vincent; New Sharon: Joey Finch; Ottumwa: Michael Brauhn, Mark Bowling, Corey Sharp and Faith Schulz; State Center: Trent Potter.
