Local trick-or-treating information

APPANOOSE COUNTY — Moravia

Trick or Treat in Moravia is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m.

The Moravia Church of the Nazarene will host a Trick or Treat Saturday, Oct. 30 at the church.

Honey Creek Resort

Honey Creek Resort will have activities the entire weekend. On Friday, Oct. 29, make gooey slime, construct a spinning spider, or join a naturalist on a hike to find creepy crawly critters.  Spend the evening carving pumpkins to take home, looking for prizes in our “Ghoulish Geocaches” then stay to enjoy our family movie night. Saturday, Oct. 30 you can choose your own adventure hike with a naturalist, enjoy Halloween snacks, trick-or-treat down the guest halls and cottages and compete in a costume contest! Prizes will be awarded for best, scariest, funniest and most original costumes. End the night by taking a hayride around the resort. The city of Mystic will have its Trick or Treat from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31.

Numa

The city-wide Trick or Treat is from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31.

Centerville

Trick or Treating on the Centerville Square will take place from 5-6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29.

The city-wide Trick or Treat is from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31.

The Centerville Nursing and Rehab 20th annual Trick or Treat will be from 6-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31 at 1208 E. Cross St. in Centerville.

Trick or Treat (Trunk) at Faith United Methodist Church parking lot on Highway 5 north of John Deere from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28 for children up to 12. At least one parent needs to be present.

Trick or Treat at Mercy Medical Center Long-Term Care Sunday, Oct. 31 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

City-wide Trick or Treat Saturday, Oct 30 from 5-8 p.m.

Cincinnati

City-wide Trick or Treat will be held Sunday, Oct. 31 from dusk until 8 p.m.

The Iowegian wants readers to think about the solicitation ordinance that will prevent groups or individuals from entering a roadway to solicit money. The Centerville City Council in June by a 5-0 vote passed the first reading of just such an ordinance. Public pressure and during a subsequent special meeting, the council voted 3-2 to table the ordinance. A second special meeting to discuss the solicitation ordinance is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 at City Hall. So, the question of the week is, "Do you or do you not support the ordinance to prevent solicitation of funds in city streets?"
