MYSTIC — A Centerville School bus slid off of a gravel road northwest of Mystic this morning.
There were no injuries in the incident, Appanoose County Sheriff Gary Anderson confirmed. The bus was partially blocking the road near 15632 150th Avenue as the school district waited for a tow truck from Ottumwa to pull it out.
Centerville Schools Superintendent Tony Ryan said there was one student on the bus at the time of the incident. Ryan stated that while the bus was attempting to exit a driveway it partially slid off the roadway while maneuvering a turn.
Many area school districts were not in session today. Moravia, Seymour and Wayne all began the morning with two hour delays before announcing they are closing on Friday.
Centerville and Moulton-Udell schools, however, remained operating on a normal schedule after a minor ice shower swept through the area overnight.
Ryan, who is also the superintendent of schools for the Moulton-Udell district, said students arrived to Moulton school with no issues today.
